Type: Original design sports car
Brief overview of car:
The Sterling originated in England in the 1970's and was called the Nova, a design by Richard Oakes, brought over to America and re-branded.
Based on a VW Beetle floorpan and mechanicals the Sterling was certainly 'out there' in the 70's. It hit the spot with it's cheap price and futuristic roof canopy and thousands were sold around the world under their different names.
Sterling Sports Cars continue to offer the Sterling as a kit but also offer a parts and build/restoration service to existing Sterling customers. Current developments are a tubular chassis (to do away with the VW Beetle floorpan) and even electric power that some customers are trying out.
